LMMS has a better workflow in regards to electronic production but last I checked it didn't support recording/editing audio at all, which is a big part of my workflow in FL.īitwig runs natively on Linux and after trying the demo I feel like it would work for my needs but it would give me no benefit over running FL in Wine as it doesn't support LV2 plugins, is not open source and is it ridiculously expensive. If I had a 4 bar piano loop, the export midi function would force all of the notes into a single measure. The midi editor/piano roll/whatever you call it is super clunky compared to FL and LMMS and it doesn't support curves in automation clips unless you jump manually record them in. I have tried to switch to LMMS and Ardour a few times but they just aren't good enough for what I'm trying to create.Īrdour is very good for recording instruments and that sort of stuff but it just doesn't cut it for electronic music with MIDI synths and precise automation. I've been producing music for 5 years, out of which the last 2 has been on FL Studio running in Wine on Linux.
